Two other pieces that will be included on the "Special Features" section of the DVD were edited, today, with help from Eddie Hamilton. The two pieces are "Sound on Film, with Robin O'Donoghue" and "Special Effect Show and Tell". Robin's piece was filmed recently and is all about the process of sound layering on film and The Computer Film Company provided us with a breakdown of all the elements that make up one of our special effects and audio commentary from Simon Corris explains the process that this particular shot went through.

One of the issues that has arisen from putting the film through an ENR (Bleach By-pass) process is that the print will not telecine adequately. The higher contrast on the film as a result of this process doesn't translate well onto video. What this means is that we'll be producing a low contrast print and emulating the ENR look by grading again on the telecine machine at Dailies 21.

An early screening, this morning, of the final combined print at Technicolor. Unfortunately there was a problem with the digital sound track which means that there will have to be a re-print made. The analogue sound track ran problem free so we were able to see and hear the combined print projected. We're delighted with the look, now fully graded, and sound for the film and it's a pleasure, after all this time, to experience the film on the big screen.

This afternoon we were invited to discuss our experiences in the making and marketing of Ghosthunter, on the panel of a seminar organized by the British Short Film Festival which runs until the 28th September.

The DVD of Ghosthunter will now be published inside the back cover of the book. We have been working all year on producing this DVD and are delighted to finally confirm its publication with Focal Press.

As part of the preparation for the DVD we have been preparing various items that will make up the "Special Features" section - and this afternoon we were able to film a piece with Robin O'Donoghue (Re-Recording Mixer) at The Korda Theatre, Shepperton. This will be a feature on the whole sound layering process on film - from recording on the production day through to the final mix in the dubbing theatre, using scene examples from Ghosthunter. Other features, alongside the film itself, will include the documentary, a show and tell sequence for one of the special effects, the trailer we took to Cannes and the production stills. There will also be a DVD ROM section where we will provide the cast and crew contracts, the production forms, budgeting and script formatting software - all used in the production of Ghosthunter. The fuel shortage meant that the sound mix from Shepperton arrived a little later in the week at Technicolor than expected but they will begin the optical transfer of the Dolby mix this afternoon.

3rd grading session at Technicolor followed by our final mix with Robin O'Donoghue at the Korda Theatre, Shepperton. We were able to see the ENR process on the film for the first time. It creates a high contrast between the blacks and the whites and has a very moody effect. We'll be grading again next week before, hopefully, committing to our final print. The sound mix went extremely well. We projected a mute 1st grade print against the sound mix and had no sync problems. It was great to hear all the film in its full Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound mix. We're almost there.

2nd grading session at Technicolor this morning. For the 3rd grading session, next week, we will see for the first time the ENR (Bleach by-pass) process in effect. We have been always aimed to achieve a certain look for the film and this will be the first opportunity to see this look in motion.

Recording, this afternoon, with Barrington (Composer) and the musicians at Barrington's recording studio. The recording session went very smoothly and all 16 minutes of music were recorded within an hour. The later part of the afternoon was spent mixing all the music cues to produce the final music mix. The music cues were burnt onto CD ready for the final sound mix on the 11th September, at Shepperton Studios.
